A Free Gift

How many times have you seen "Free Gift"
and thought that there was a catch somehow?
I know I always think that. The “Gift” I would
like to tell you about is the free gift of
salvation through Jesus Christ.

“Salvation from what?”, you might ask.
~~ Well, The Bible says that we all have
sinned and that the payment for sin is death.
When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden
of Eden, death entered the world, because
it was God’s judgment for their disobedience.
And since that time, “all of creation groans”
Romans 8:22, under the burden of
death and decay.

Sin separated man from a Holy God. No longer
could God look on man because of sin. Many
people have a hard time with the ‘holiness’
of God. It is a foreign concept, that we tend to
equate with a pious attitude, rather than a
state of being. God doesn’t think of Himself as
better than us, or too good for us….He IS holy,
and can’t be in the presence of sin. And
so mankind was left separated from their loving
Creator, with no way to wipe away the sin, and
bridge the chasm.

We start our lives and grow older and most
of us never realize how our Creator sees us.
He loved the world so much that He sent His
beloved son Jesus to bridge the gap. Jesus
died on the cross to pay the cost for the
sins of the world. Nothing sinful mankind
does can merit such a gift.
It is truly, Amazing Grace and beyond!

By recognizing that we are sinners, in need
of forgiveness, we can better appreciate the
gift that God offers through His son. To accept
His gift means undeserved forgiveness, and
salvation from everlasting separation from
God. The Bible says, "The wages of sin is
death but the gift of God is eternal life
through Christ Jesus our Lord" Romans 6:23

Just as if God was handing you a wrapped gift,
you must accept and receive the gift. The Bible
says " if you confess with your mouth Jesus as
Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised
Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with
the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses,
resulting in salvation"
Romans 10: 9-10.

To receive the free gift of Salvation you must
believe Jesus is the Son of God. Believe that
he died on the cross for your sins. Believe that
God raised him from the grave.

If you are persuaded that you too would like
to receive this gift of Grace. Pray a simple
prayer and ask God to forgive you of your sins
and acknowledge Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
It is the most important decision you will ever
make in your life.

The Bible says " For I am convinced that neither
death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities,
nor things present, nor things to come, nor
powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any
other created thing, will be able to separate
us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus
our Lord" Romans 8:38-39 What a promise!
With all that has happened in our nation and
in the world, it is good to know that NOTHING
can separate the believer from God's love.

“For we do not mourn as those who have no hope.”
